10, 9, 8, …

First things first…my apologies for not updating as often as I said I was going to. It’s not that I haven’t been doing anything to move forward with the launch of 5 Star Ebooks, it’s that the things I have been doing recently haven’t warranted an update. Or at least, those are my thoughts.

One of the persons that I keep in fairly regular contact with has told me to ‘just post something, don’t be such a perfectionist’. Well, here you are.

The countdown is officially on. I am giving myself until Wednesday to have things done and at least ‘presentable’ for the launch. Not that I have a lot of things to do, but at least it gives me a goal and once again leads to me being accountable.

I have been editing pages (many thanks to Paula Brett for setting up the EW Portal for the payment processing on the site) to get them to my liking. I have also been tossing around the idea of either having a sort of squeeze page for the home page to entice opt-ins for the newsletter that I am planning. I have an 8 part email series already written and ready to load into aweber, but I am vascillating between the squeeze page or just having a signup form hover in or fade in. Feedback so far is leading towards having the opt-in form fade in.

Although I am probably late with this, but oh, well. Have you made any New Year’s resolutions yet? Have you broken any of them? HA! I know that one of the few that I made has already been broken: to focus more time on the ‘business’ than reading other peoples’ material. Of course, being a newbie, this is very difficult to do, but I came across a site that will help out with this:

Click here to get your 2008 New Years Toolkit

Check it out.

That’s it for today. I WILL update tomorrow as I get much closer to launch…7, 6, 5…

    Hey Ron,
It’s nice to know that you are getting things done behind the scenes. It sounds like you’re zeroing in on what else needs to happen before you go live.

I won’t keep you since you’re trying to focus. :-)
    Good luck with your launch!

I happened on your Planetsms post today. I have been neglecting reading on the forums trying to get my parenting book ready for launch. I went back and read all your blog entries. Great stuff. I completed the opt-in and will be looking at you regularly.

Do you realize how fortunate you are:

    a. Having been through most of this with your other site

    b. Not being an absolute newbie in all the techie stuff as well as being a newbie in IM and everything else.

I have some ideas I would like to bounce off you after you get launched and can take one breath.
